The Cheriton Hideaway is located in the sleepy town of Cheriton on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Eastern Shore is a peninsula with the Chesapeake Bay on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. For Bayside fishing you can easily put your boat over at the Harbor in Cape Charles or Kiptopeke State Park. Seaside fishing can be found by putting your boat over in the seaside village of Oyster. There are a lot of fish to be found before and beyond Virginia’s barrier islands. Cheriton is conveniently located between the bayside and the seaside with only a 5 minute ride to either side. | |
| The Cheriton Hideaway has all you need for your getaway retreat. The two public beaches our county has to offer are located in Cape Charles and at Kiptopeke State Park. Cape Charles offers a very child friendly beach. Cape Charles recently enlarged the beach by adding sand and building jetties to help keep it here. Cape Charles also rebuilt and enlarged the fishing pier down at the beach. In the town you can also find Southeast Expeditions – where they can help take care of all your kayak, wind surfing, skate boarding needs and so much more. For the golfer in you, you will find BayCreek Golf Community with two signature golf courses – Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. | |

| Outdoor enthusiasts should check out Kiptopeake State Park located about eight miles south of Cape Charles. There are more than four miles of hiking/bicycle trails, fishing, beaches, kayaking and other recreational facilities. Located opposite Kiptopeake State Park is the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge was established in 1984 for migratory and endangered species management and for wildlife oriented recreation. The 1123 acres of maritime forest, myrtle and bayberry thickets, grasslands, croplans and fresh and brackish ponds provide important hapitat for wildlife. Two hour kayaking tours are available in the Refuge. | ||
